The Rocna Difference

Just like Rocna anchors, the Rocna Swivel is engineered for reliability you can stake your life on. G70 duplex stainless steel. Individual proof testing. Nord-Lock security.

It’s the rock solid swivel.

WHY THIS SWIVEL EXISTS:

The Problem With Swivels

For years, customers asked: “What swivel should I use with my Rocna?” The honest answer was uncomfortable—no swivel met our standards.

Generic swivels use unspecified stainless grades, skip proof testing, and fail at loads below their ratings. Buyers have no way to verify quality until failure. When your anchor is the best insurance you have, your swivel shouldn’t be the weak link.

The Solution

Peter Smith—the designer behind Rocna anchors—applied the same engineering rigor that made Rocna the world’s most trusted anchor: no compromises on materials, proof testing of every unit.

The result: the only swivel worthy of the Rocna name.

INDIVIDUALLY PROOF TESTED

Every Rocna Swivel is loaded to 13,800 kgf before it ships. Serial numbered. Strength Verified.

Rock Solid Confidence.

WHAT DOES THE SWIVEL DO?

Your anchor rode is a system. Every component matters.

Three critical benefits:

1. PREVENTS
CHAIN TWIST

Your chain naturally twists during anchoring as your boat swings with wind and tide.

The Rocna Swivel rotates freely, keeping your rode straight and preventing accumulated twist that can kink your chain or create resistance during retrieval.

2. SMOOTH
RETRIEVAL

When your anchor self-rights on your bow roller, chain twist fights against it.

The swivel eliminates this resistance, allowing clean orientation without manual intervention.

3. SYSTEM
CONFIDENCE

Designed to complete your anchoring system.  Built to match or exceed your chain’s and shackle’s ratings.

ENGINEERED FOR ROCNA. BUILT FOR ANY ANCHOR.

Designed to complete your anchoring system with the same quality  that comes with Rocna Anchors. This makes it right for any anchor setup where strength and reliability matter.

The universal shackle attachment method works with any anchor brand and allows full articulation—unlike direct-mount swivels that can fail under side loads or damage your anchor shank.

      INSTALLATION MADE SIMPLE

The Rocna Swivel uses a Nord-Lock® washer system that’s simple once you see it. Most installations take 15 minutes with common tools.

      Three-Step Installation

      1. ATTACH TO ANCHOR

Use a bow shackle through your anchor shank attachment point. Pass the shackle pin through the Rocna Swivel attachment point. Ensure free articulation in all directions.

      2. INSTALL CHAIN PIN

Insert the integrated chain pin through your chain end-link. Place the swivel joint head in its cavity and join the two chain-side bodies together.

      3. TIGHTEN & SECURE

Install the Nord-Lock washer pair (serrations facing away from each other). Tighten the clamp screw 60° beyond finger-tight, or to 20 N•m with a torque wrench.

The Nord-Lock system is simple once you see it.

      What you’ll need:

      • Included square-drive key (or T45 bit)
      • Common torque wrench (optional but recommended)
      • 15 minutes

      Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this with a non-Rocna anchor?

Yes. While engineered to be worthy of the Rocna name, the same standards that make it right for a Rocna make it right for any anchor where quality matters. The universal shackle attachment works with all modern anchor designs.

      Why is proof testing important?

It proves actual strength, not just claimed strength.

Many swivels are stamped with load ratings based on theoretical calculations or batch testing. Individual proof testing means your specific swivel—serial number and all—has been loaded to a documented force that proves it meets or exceeds its rating. You get a swivel that’s already proven itself before it goes near your boat.

      What makes G70 duplex different?

G70 duplex stainless is the same grade used in submarine components.

“Stainless steel” is a broad category with wildly varying strength and corrosion resistance. G70 duplex combines high tensile strength with superior marine corrosion resistance—even in permanent seawater immersion. It resists galling (the seizing that destroys generic swivels) and maintains its strength in real-world conditions.

Most swivels use unspecified grades because the manufacturer doesn’t want to commit to a testable standard. We specify G70 duplex because it’s the right material for the job.

      Do I need special tools?

No. The Rocna Swivel includes a square-drive key that fits the clamp screw. You can also use a standard T45 Torx bit with any ratchet or drill.

For optimal installation, a torque wrench is recommended (20 N•m / 15 lbf•ft) but not required—the 60° tightening rule works reliably for field installation.

      What about my windlass?

The swivel adds 78mm to your rode length.

This “rode extension” (RX) is the distance from your chain end-link to the shackle pin. It’s minimal and won’t affect windlass operation on any properly-configured system.

The swivel’s low-profile design works smoothly with bow rollers. When recovering your anchor, you may want to pause the windlass briefly as the shackle meets the roller to allow the anchor to self-right, then proceed slowly.
